- September 26, 2008 - Hsu Fu Chi recalls tainted rice rolls - HSU Fu Chi International told shareholders yesterday that the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) had detected presence of melamine in two of its puffed rice roll products on Wednesday. As a result, the company has recalled all such products from the Singapore market. The company said that, following reports of melamine-tainted milk powder sold by leading milk manufacturers in China, the group had promptly sent samples of dairy ingredients from its inventory to the Societe Generale de Surveillance SA test centre and the outcome of the test had found the dairy ingredients free from melamine. The loss incurred from recalling all the concerned products in Singapore is insignificant in the context of the group's total earnings and no material impact is expected, it added.
