Banyan Tree Holdings Limited1 is a manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels and spas in the Asia Pacific. During the year ended December 31, 2006, it had 20 resorts and hotels, 53 spas, 62 galleries and two golf courses. It has six operating business segments: hotel investment, hotel management, spa operations, gallery operations, property sales, and design fees and others. Through its subsidiary, Laguna Resorts & Hotels Public Company Limited (LRH), it also operates an integrated resort in Laguna Phuket. It owns 51.8% of the outstanding shares of LRH. It manages properties under the Banyan Tree and Angsana brands for other owners, as well. On December 27, 2006, it acquired Jayanne International Limited. In February 2007, it acquired ENDA Pte. Ltd. In October 2007, it acquired Banyan Tree Dunhuang (S) Pte. Ltd., Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou (S) Pte. Ltd. and Banyan Tree Chengdu Pte. Ltd. In November 2007, it incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, PT. Heritage Resorts & Spas.

  • October 18, 2008 - Banyan Tree sees Q3 loss due to recent Thai riots2 - HOSPITALITY group Banyan Tree will report a loss for its third quarter to September, its first three-month loss since June 2006. The company blamed recent riots in Thailand, which had forced the closure of Phuket Airport. 'As a result, our Laguna resorts' businesses were affected. This is compounded by the fact that third quarter is our shoulder season,' it said yesterday.
