Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH)1 is a Singapore-based newspaper and magazine publisher. The principal activities of the Company are publishing, printing and distributing newspapers; distributing magazines, and providing multimedia content and services. SPH is also engaged in providing management services to its subsidiaries. The Company publishes 14 newspapers in four official languages and more than 80 magazine titles in Singapore.
It operates two radio stations, UFM 100.3 (in Chinese) and WKRZ 91.3 (in English), under a 70%-owned joint venture company, UnionWorks, with NTUC Media. SPH also maintains a presence in the free-to-air television business through a 20% share in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd. In March 2006, the Company acquired a 35% stake in TOM Outdoor Media Group. As of December 8, 2006, the Company increased its interest in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd from 70% to 80%. SPH's interest in SPH Unionworks is held through another subsidiary, SPH MultiMedia Pte Ltd.
- October 7, 2008 - SPH to sell stake in Hong Kong publisher2 - SINGAPORE Press Holdings said yesterday it will sell most of its stake in a Hong Kong publisher. Through its wholly owned indirect subsidiary Magazines Incorporated, SPH will sell 80 per cent of its stake in MI Publishing (MIHK) to Sing Tao Holdings (BVI). Magazines Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of SPH Magazines.
